Welcome to ASAHRG

The official site of the Avebury and Stonehenge Archaeological and Historical Research Group.

About Us

ASAHRG is a self-governing group of elected archaeologists and historians who work on and research aspects of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site and its environs. We meet three times a year to discuss our latest research and developments within and around the Site. We usually have field trips to our excavations in the summer.

Since 1993, we have been represented on the governance bodies of the World Heritage Site. We are a partner in several of the current (2015) WHS Management Plan actions; for example, we contributed to and helped deliver the Stonehenge and Avebury WHS Research Framework.

ASAHRG currently has members from universities, commercial archaeology, museums, local and central government, conservation bodies, and independent researchers.

Our Logos

ASAHRG members designed our logos. They depict one of the Stonehenge trilithons, a plan of Avebury Henge and the outline of Silbury Hill. The blue colour represents the water at the World Heritage Site, the green represents the rural landscape, and the grey represents the grey of the Sarsen stones found at both Avebury and Stonehenge.
